Application for Scholarship

I am Ms. Laxmi Gurung from Nepal. I have completed the BA in Social Science and doing my Master Degree in Rural Development. It is also going to Completed in November 2005. I am also working in public sector for year. I want to be a good policy maker in future.

Nepal is Landlocked, mostly mountainous country situated between the Tibetan Autonomous region of China in the north and India in the South, East and West with the altitudes ranging from less than 100 m in the Terai to 8848 m in the Himalayas. The country covers and area of 147,181 Sq km and is inhabited by roughly 23 million people with subsistence agriculture.

The country has been geographically divided in to 5 development regions, 14 zones and 75 districts and its ecological division included mountain, hill and terai (the Plains). More then 85 percent population are living in rural area with agriculture and indigenous technology. They are surveying less then $1 per day income. They don’t know what is own right and human right. The tow side conflict is rising day bye day and their torture is being daily activity for those people who are living in rural areas.

To be a good human right activist, good policy maker and development expert I am going to apply in your program. These are essential for be a good development expert.
