The successful applicant has completed a master's degree in Economics/Econometrics, but MSc degrees from other quantitative fields will also be considered, assuming appropriate affinity with economic problems. The candidate is expected to finish a PhD; the dissertation topic will be related to both practical and theoretical problems associated with issues such as the testing of exogeneity, weak instruments, finite samples, dynamic models, accuracy of inference.

The starting salary for a PhD student in their first year is approximately ? 1,702 per month and rises to ? 2,283 per month in their final fourth year. Other benefits include a good research environment and facilities, including computing equipment and software, conference funding, etc. and limited teaching (in English if desired). Graduate courses are followed at the Tinbergen Institute ( and NAKE ( ) which might lead to an MPhil degree (tuition fees are covered).
