Even civilian houses burned —— More than 30 houses were burned down. A woman carrying a young child in her arms.

I headed north on a local bus from the capital City , Banda Acheh. A serene countryside scenery spread outside but some houses and schools were burned down. From the north, I went to Central Acheh. This central mountain area is where the TNI and the anti-government groups often engage in combat, producing a great numbers of refugees. However, no aid relief has been provided due to the lack of any means of transportation. I was taken to a village by a local NGO member where 30 houses had been burned down in a single night. “I lost everything. There’s nothing more to lose. I pray everyday hoping that I’ll be able to live as before.” said a woman who lived in midst of the debris.
