he troops began hammering at the door, but the victim was too afraid to open it. On hearing his door being broken down, the victim jumped out of a window, into a chicken coop. The troops released indiscriminate volleys of gunfire in his direction, and as a result he sustained gunshot wounds to the thigh, hand and heel, which was completely smashed.
The troops carried the victim 1 Km and at 07.00 arrived at the Cot Teupah military post where he was interrogated. The victim told the soldiers that he
worked as a farmer in Peureulak, East Acheh. The soldiers asked him if he had ever seen any GAM activity there, to which the victim replied that he had
often seen GAM there. The soldiers asked him if he could show them where GAM were based, but the victim replied that he didn't know where they were based, that he only saw GAM passing by.
According to the victim, on 5 November 2001, he was taken to the military post (Koramil) in Bireuen, where he was placed and left in a cell for two hours. That afternoon he was taken to the Gandapura police station (polsek) and treated by a nurse from Gandapura health clinic.
On 7 November 2001, the victim was taken to the Lhokseumawe General Hospital. The victim's condition is of great concern, as the bullets in his hand and thigh have yet to be removed, and according to information received, he will be operated upon in the near future.
